Marketing refers to the set of actions or tactics that an organization uses to promote its brand or product in the market. Traditional marketing refers to a kind of promotion, advertisement that organizations used in the early period to market their product. Traditional marketing includes TV, radio, billboards, pamphlets, newspapers, etc. It provides very little interaction with the audiences and is expensive. In traditional marketing, changes cannot be made, and changes in the advertisement require more time and additional expenses. It is hard to target audiences in the traditional approach as it is difficult to find out who read the advertisements that were distributed. Because of its longevity, people are accustomed to the traditional approach as finding ads in magazines and newspapers, or reading billboards are still familiar activities and people still do them all the time. Traditional marketing is much more costly, especially for mass communication, such as TV or radio ads. Print media can also be more expensive and must be stored and distributed. Cost is added when companies must hire additional people to distribute and manage these resources.


On the other hand, Digital marketing is the promotion of products and brands through various forms of electronic media. Digital marketing refers to the marketing activities carried out online through social media, blogs, YouTube, Videos, Email marketing, pop-up add, clickbait URL’s and so on. These methods are very effective, and with every business looking to establish a rich online presence, new approaches to digital marketing are emerging every single day with the rapid growth in Technology. Digital marketing allows businesses to focus their resources and energy on specific customers who will be interested in their products and services. Today we know that a huge percentage of buyers use the Internet when making purchasing decisions. Even those who still buy in the ‘real world’ often use the Internet to make decisions prior to buying. They will use computers, tablets and, smartphones to search, do some related research and then buy. Digital Marketing plays a vital role for modern businesses since the Internet plays a significant role in how today’s consumer make purchasing decisions. The internet also implies the buying patterns of today’s consumers and the type of product that is bought by them.

Digital marketing in Nepal is a relatively newer trend. But many people, businesses and organizations have already started to implement digital marketing to boost their business and profit. Digital marketing is the clear choice for all businesses trying to accelerate their growth and expand their reach. Since Nepal is on the verge of complete digitalization, the future of the Digital Marketing is bright. There’s immense power in this field and people are beginning to realize its importance. On the other hand, IT Entrepreneurs are constantly asking the government to support Digitalization. With the various e-commerce businesses running around the nation, there is a sort of competition around the digital field to attract customers and to sell the products. While the amount of time consumers spend on web and mobile has increased drastically, the amount of available content has increased exponentially.

The e-mail that is sent out to a specific group of people, with the help of accumulated data is known as Mass E-mail. An example of mass e-mail would be that of a university sending out the same e-mail to all of its students at the same time. To send a mass e-mail one may need to have a database of e-mails, which may have been gathered or bought from a vendor or a data scrapping organization. Displaying banners or ads on other websites belonging to the same niche is the most common form of online advertising. Online platforms such as Google Ads (Formerly Google Adwords) allows to automatically serving ads on other content sites. Many users find online advertisements irritating and disruptive and hence turn to ad blocking to stop advertises from being displayed.


  • Mobile Phone Advertising

With mobile phones being the most used electronic device worldwide and over 90% of users using it to browse the Internet, mobile phone advertisements are also a part of digital marketing. Lots of advertisements are seen whenever applications like Facebook, YouTube, and Torrents are being used. SMS is also popular in the form of advertising a certain brand or a product.   • Pay Per Click(PPC)

PPC stands for Pay per Click, a model of internet marketing in which advertisers pay a fee each time one of their ads is clicked. Essentially, it’s a way of buying visits to the website, rather than attempting to earn those visits organically. Every time an ad is clicked, a small fee is taken by the Search Engine. If the ads and landing pages are useful and satisfying to the users, Google charges less per click, leading to higher profits for the business. Google Ads is the single most popular PPC advertising system in the world.


  • Google Ads

Google Ads (formerly known as Google AdWords) is another great platform to promote products over the Internet. It is a marketplace where companies pay to have their website ranked right with the top organic results. Google counts the number of clicks on the ads and charges according to the click. Google doesn’t just want to show people the ads by the highest bidder – they could still be horrible ads. They care about their users so much that they’d rather show them a more relevant and better ad by someone who pays less.

There are various steps that should be focused before uploading an advertisement on several platforms. The advertisement banners, pamphlets, photos, and contents should be well managed. There are platforms like Facebook, Google, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Hi5, etc where various advertisement posts can be found. The advertisements that we find while using mobile applications and YouTube are also digital media marketing. Digital marketing poses special challenges for its providers. Digital channels are multiplying rapidly, and digital marketers have to keep up with how this channel works, how they are used by consumers and how to use these channels to effectively market things. In addition, it’s becoming more difficult with the growing competition of digital ads to capture consumer’s attention. Digital marketing is rapidly growing, hence one needs to stay updated with the latest news and trends of the market, to ensure a successful campaign.
