Setup Gmail in Outlook 2010

Microsoft Outlook is a desktop based application which helps to send and receive email in desktop/ laptop . It includes a calendar, task manager, contact manager, note taking journal and more features. Setting Gmail in Microsoft Outlook is easy process but needs few information like SMTP/Pop, IMAP, Port etc.

The entire process has been described on few steps below which helps to setup email easily. Be sure that the Microsoft Office package is installed and Microsoft Outlook in working condition.

The process is shown below :

1.  Go to run ( Press Windows key + R ) type “Outlook” and click “OK” or press “Enter”

2. “Microsoft Outlook 2010 Startup” starts then click on “Next” button

3. “Account Configuration” open then select “Yes” and click on “Next”.

4. “Add New Account” appears then select on “Manually configure server settings or additional server types” and click on “Next” button

5. “Add New Account” opens mark on “Internet E-mail” and click on “Next”

6 Again “Add New Accounts” appears, fill up the “Information”

i) User Information :

Your Name: Insert your name.

Email Address: Insert your Desire Email address

ii) Server Information:

Account Type: Click on “IMAP”

Incoming Mail server: Insert server “imap.gmail.com”

Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Insert server “smtp.gmail.com”

iii) Logon Information

User name: Insert your Email id as given in Email address.

Password: Enter your Email Id password.

In 2nd step: Click mark on “Remember password”

In 3rd step: Click on “More Settings”

7. “Internet E-mail Settings” appears, Click on “General”.

8. No need to change anything in “Sent Items” too.

9. No need to change anything in “Deleted Items” too.

10. Click on Outgoing Server and press mark on” Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication”.

11. No need to change in anything in “Connection”

12. Click On “Advanced” 

Click on Incoming Server (IMAP): Type “993” and change the “encrypted connection” to “SSL”
Click on Outgoing Server(SMTP): Type “465” and change the “encrypted connection” to “SSL” then press “OK” button

13. Again It goes on previous page and then click on “Test Account Settings”.

14. Open “Gmail” and check the mail sent by google and then click on message.

15. Due to security reasons Gmail blocks unauthorized access. Click on “Check Activity”.

16. “Critical Security alert” appears, Click on “Yes, It was me”.  

17. Again Open “Outlook Page”, “Internet E-mail” appears, Click on “Save this password in your password list”. and then press on “OK” button.

Now Gmail starts working in Microsoft Outlook.
